KOH SAMUI THAI PARADISE ISLAND

Samui Island, a beautiful archipelago island of the coconut trees, is located in the Gulf of Thailand 20km from the Thai mainland and about 600km south of Bangkok. It is Thailand's third largest island, only Phuket and Koh Chang are bigger. There are many famous beaches around the island, such as Chaweng, Bophut, Lamai, Big Buddha, Choeng Mon, Hua Thanon and Maenam. Samui also has many sister islands : Koh Tao, (a top diving islands destination in Asia) Koh Phangan, Koh Tan and Koh Nang Yuan but also 80 other islands and only 6 are inhabited.

There are three seasons in Samui Island and the climate is tropical and very humid :
warm and dry season from February till May,
rainy season from the end of September till November
"cool" season from October till January.

When the sun goes down in Samui, the streets and bars come to life and beaches changes their dresses and DJ from all around the world appears like Ark Bar or in clubs like The Green Mango or the Reggae Pub in Chaweng. Here are some recommendations for the Samui nightlife : Stay away from Drugs, transsexuals hang around on the streets late at night on motorbike, whisting and inviting men to accompany them for there services (they are called "lady boys", you understand ?), Thai girls in bar are very easy but usually you need to pay them, we would recommend using a condom, don't drink too much or don't drive drunk, there is so much accident in Koh samui because of alcohol and speed !!!

Samui has many shopping places or traditional market : Talad Laem Din, traditional Thai market with fresh vegatables and fruit, fish, seafood, meat and also cheap clothes, Talad Lamai, located at Ring Road in Lamai, you will find also Tesco Lotus, Big C, and home pro supermarket, and every where in the island 7 eleven or Family Mart.

The Island offers plenty of hotels and resorts from low budget to five star luxury. Lamai beach is the second place in the island and offers a lot of budget accommodation. Choengmon in the North of Koh Samui is only fifteen minutes away from he main town Chaweng, Big Buddha area, Bang Rak and Bophut have plenty of hotels and beach bungalows next to beaches. And the bigger place is Chaweng beach with a 4 kilometers beach and fronting hotels.
